Ever noticed the communication pattern in the emails, texts, Social posts you receive or the letters (less common nowadays) you receive in mail box? It says a lot about the emotions and psychological condition of the writer, while creating the communication lines.Try to read between the text lines and bring out the emotions that the person wish to convey! Depicting emotions through non-verbal communication pattern could be exciting area of study!

Careful read will create a pattern in the readers imagery as if the two are in direct conversation. It also depends upon the reader’s current emotional state. Sometimes, meaning of the written text is misunderstood the first time and on a second read, the new actual context clears out.

Communication is the style in which two people exchange their thoughts, emotions and information. There are numerous communication presentation styles. The style of interaction and exchange of information also depends upon individual personality and behavior. Most common are styles are as follows:

Passive

Passive communication put forth views in a plane and simple style. This style yield in front of others and defer any misunderstanding and negative statements. Passive communicator’s style is also visible in the writing pattern. In actual conversation also, they avoid confrontations and try to solve problems in peaceful manner. Their writing pattern convey their behavior, in the text. Passive communication go with the flow!

Aggressive

Aggressive communication put forth the aggressive style in communication text. As observed in the aggressive communicator’s voice, facial expressions and body language, their communication text is also conveying the similar expressions, while in the written form, though the writer is not actually visible. Aggressive text too could be commanding and controlling, with no scope of space for view of others on receiving side.

Passive Aggressive

This communication is not very open and straight but have some hidden views not conveyed properly. Such communicators in real conversations are having certain views and display the opposite. They are not willing to accept certain condition, but are also not open enough, to display their point. Such behavior can also be expressed through their text. Passive-Aggressive text show cooperation with anonymity. A struggle with no voice!

Assertive

Assertive style is effective communication with powerful command and openness to further communication. Assertive communicators, show their ideas and feelings, at the same time giving space to others to speak, similarly their written text, also commands respect and balance both sides, creating a winning situation.

Personality traits

By understanding the emotions in the text, you can receive and decipher the correct message, even through text written in emails, office communications and Social group chats.

Written Communication which can be either email, SMS, memo, report, Facebook posts, Tweets may reflect a personality behind those lines.

Following personality traits of the writer, can be observed, by the receiver of the text:

Introverts : Not very outgoing, reserved personality

Extroverts : Bubbly and outgoing personality

Open : Straightforward

Warm : Positive emotions, Happy

Aggressive: Hostile, and angry personality with negative emotions

Depressed : Less anxious and sad

Stressed : Highly anxious and overthinkers.
